Fanshawe Pioneer Village Participates in Kids First Day

March 6, 2014 London, Ontario – Families can enjoy the new winter season at Fanshawe Pioneer Village on Kids First Day, Friday, March 7th from 10:00 to 2:00 pm. Parents, grandparents and children can tour the new exhibition, 1812: Perspectives from Southwestern Ontario in the Spriet Family Visitor Centre and enjoy 1812 crafts and activities. Then, take a beautiful winter walk around the Heritage Village guided by our new Smartphone tour.

March Break Fun for Families

March 6, 2014 London, Ontario – Fanshawe Pioneer Village is open for March Break fun! From Tuesday, March 11th to Friday, March 14th from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, Fanshawe Pioneer Village is open for our new 1812 March Break Drop-In for families. Learn about the War of 1812 and its impact on Southwestern Ontario. Enjoy hands-on activities including 1812 games, making a shako, 1812 paper dolls and trying on an 1812 uniform.

Bringing History to Life – The Historical Storefronts Project

September 30, 2013 – The original collection of Storefronts at Fanshawe Pioneer Village were reconstructed from authentic materials by founding curator Wilfrid Jury in 1960 – 1961. Unfortunately, the Storefronts have been closed to the public since 2003, due to severe deterioration of the roof. They were dismantled in 2010 and are one of the most missed attractions at the Village.

The Glorious Reign Ball!

July 16, 2013, London Ontario - On Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th, the CITIZENS of LONDON and the INHABITANTS of the County will spend the weekend frolicking at a Victorian Era Ball held by Fanshawe Pioneer Village. This year’s special Frolic theme focuses on the British Empire in the 19th century during the reign of Queen Victoria. Our 19th century ball program will include dances and music from the years of Queen Victoria’s lifetime; from the late regency period to 1901.
