Ontario Trillium Foundation Announcement

London, August 20, 2011 - The BIG ON HISTORY! Capital Campaign Cabinet led by Gord MacKenzie and the Board of Directors for the London & Middlesex Heritage Museum (Fanshawe Pioneer Village) are pleased to announce a $500,000 grant from the Community Capital Fund of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, a $500,000 grant from the City of London and a $250,000 donation from the Spriet Family to construct the new Spriet Family Visitor Centre in 2012.

London: August 20, 2011 - The BIG ON HISTORY! Capital Campaign Cabinet led by Gord MacKenzie and the Board of Directors for the London & Middlesex Heritage Museum (Fanshawe Pioneer Village) are pleased to announce a gift from the community that will help the Campaign move closer to its $3 million goal - a $6,100 donation from Farm Credit Canada (FCC) AgriSprit Fund.

Fanshawe Agricultural Fair

On Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st experience all the pleasures of a 19th century rural fair. Threshing, exhibits, rare breeds display, musical entertainment and classic cars are but a few of the many events to enjoy. Plan to stay for lunch and enjoy a traditional thresherman's lunch buffet at the Pioneer Village café.

"Airing of the Quilts"

This exhibit includes an exceptional presentation of Log Cabin Quilts.

Summer Theatre at Fanshawe Pioneer Village

The Miller and His Men, A Musical Melodrama by Isaac Pocock Experience this recreated musical melodrama originally performed by the Officers of the Garrison in 1842, when London was a frontier town. An old miller's beautiful daughter is pursued by two suitors: one aging, but rich; another young but poor. To win her hand, the young man makes a secret pledge: to rid the land of the banditti, and restore the fortunes of the old miller. Little does he know but someone has darker plans for them all. Cheer the heroes!

Victorian Teddy Bear Picnic

On Sunday, July 10th,all the bears are gathering for a Victorian Teddy Bear Picnic at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Bring out your favourite stuffed friend for an afternoon of games, storytelling, a parade, and afternoon tea. Children and teddies alike will enjoy many activities throughout the Village; Storytelling, a parade with “Bearemy” the mascot of Build a Bear at 1:00 p.m., followed by afternoon tea and Celtic Knot will perform at 1:30 p.m.

This event is presented in partnership with Build A Bear.
