The Denfield General Store

The Denfield General Store continues to operate as a full gift shop offering a unique variety of hand crafted gifts and souvenirs.
A visit to the past at Fanshawe Pioneer Village is not complete without a stop at the Denfield General Store. This building served as the general store and post office for the community of Denfield from 1877 to 1952 and is an outstanding example of balloon-frame construction. During its 73 years service as a general store, the shop offered everything for sale from pins to pianos.
Relive the General Store experience at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Decorated with period pieces including the postmaster’s table, store counter and cash register, the store features unique merchandise for sale. The children’s toys and candy, hand crafted pieces, period reproductions, jewelry and history books available here make perfect souvenirs or gifts.

Drop by the Pioneer Village Café for a delicious lunch featuring homemade soups, salads and breads all made with local produce.
Hours of Operation: May 19th - October 8th: Wednesday to Sunday and Holiday Mondays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If you wish to visit only the Pioneer Village Café you are not required to pay the admission to Fanshawe Pioneer Village.
Most of the vegetables and herbs served with your meal were grown just steps away in our organic gardens, here at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Our gardens present the fruits and vegetables grown in Middlesex County communities from 1820 to 1920. Pick up a Crops and Gardens Pathways tour at the Village Tollgate to learn more.
